Single-filament vehicles use a separate main beam bulb, usually H1, H7 or HB3 9005. Twin-filament vehicles run dipped and main from one H4 bulb. Vehicles that combine daytime running light and main beam in one unit use H15.
Main beam is wired through the same monitoring circuit as dipped beam on most modern cars, so if your vehicle flags a bulb fault on one, it will on the other. CANbus versions are listed for the common fittings.
