Brightest H7 Bulbs Guide

This is a question we get asked a lot at XenonsOnline, here we will discuss the different types of H7 Bulbs and how we rank them being the brightest.

Different types of H7 Headlight Bulbs.

The H7 Bulb comes in different types, these are mainly different technology behind the bulbs themselves and some having other options within that technology.

H7 Halogen Bulbs

Halogen H7 bulbs

Halogen bulbs are still one of the most popular bulbs used by the vehicle Manufacturers, mainly because they themselves are cheaper and do not require any additional Hardware to enable them to function keeping overall costs down. Many manufacturers will install Halogen Bulbs in base Models with the option of upgrading to either Xenon Bulbs or LED Bulbs if the buyer of the vehicle wishes to do so.

A typical Standard H7 Halogen bulb would produce on average 1500 Lumens, however upgraded H7 Halogen Bulbs are also available. The light output of upgraded H7 Halogen Bulbs varies from Manufacturer to Manufacturer, some claiming over 2300 Lumens.

We have some Upgraded H7 Halogen Bulbs listed on the website, here you can see the different versions. Some offering more light and others offering visual styling appeal over functionality.

H7 Xenon HID Bulbs

H7 Xenon HID Bulbs unlike H7 Halogen Bulbs are filled with Xenon Gas, they also require additional Hardware known as a Ballast to ignite the bulbs. From Factory you will often find Factory fitted Xenon HID Bulbs on higher end Vehicles, these can come as "Standard" or as said can be upgraded from Halogen at a cost when purchasing the vehicle from the dealer.

A OEM Xenon HID Bulb fitted by the vehicle Manufacturer will often produce 5000 Lumens. So you can see why some people purchasing a vehicle Brand New may pay the extra for Xenon Headlights, and why so many people who already have H7 Halogen Bulbs look at upgrading to H7 Xenon HID Bulbs using a H7 Xenon HID Conversion Kit.

Standard OEM Xenon HID Bulbs generally all produce roughly the same coloured light, 4300k. Although a much whiter light than halogen producing a warmer 3400k as standard. Other temperatures are available when upgrading which can dramatically change the look of the light produced, the most popular temperatures being 5000k, 6000k and 8000k.

H7 LED Bulbs

The newest kids on the block are H7 LED Bulbs, although being around for nearly the same time as Xenon HID Bulbs it's only recently that we have been able to actually start using them as fully functioning headlight bulbs.

The original H7 LED Bulbs housed multiple small LED chips that didn't really produce much light at all, looking at them head on changed the look of the vehicle because of the crisp bright white light produced. However in most instances this light often failed to even leave the Headlight itself let alone provide enough light to illuminate a road at night.

Over the last few years H7 LED Headlight Bulbs have come a long way, not only in advances of the LED Chips themselves but the cooling of them too allowing brighter LED chips being able to be used for long periods of time without premature failure due to the heat produced.

So with all that said ranking the brightest H7 LED Bulbs isn't as straight forward as the H7 Halogen Bulbs or the H7 Xenon HID Bulbs. Mainly because of the massive difference between one bulb and another.

Because of this we will base this on the H7 LED Bulbs we offer on our website only.

H7 LED Headlight Bulb

The H7 LED Bulb that produces the least light is our H7 LED Headlight ConversionOne of the main features of this bulb is its size, replicating the size of a Halogen bulb very well. Very popular for tight spaces and for people looking for a mid level LED bulb without breaking the bank. Producing 4000 lumens per bulb.

High Powered H7 LED Headlight Bulbs

Next up is our H7 LED HEADLIGHT BULBS 6000LM as the title suggests these produce 6000 lumens. Because of the LED chips used to achieve this you will notice this range of bulbs also has a fan included to aid cooling. They are also available in a Canbus Error Free version here H7 HIGH POWERED CANBUS LED BULBS (PAIR)

H7 Projector LED Headlight Bulbs

Our Flagship Model is our H7 Project-X LED Headlight Bulbs Canbus. Not only boasting a massive 8000 Lumen per bulb but also developed to produce an excellent beam pattern and also has Canbus Error cancelling capabilities too.

Here you can see the difference in beam pattern from an average H7 LED bulb compared to our H7 Project X LED.

So to round this up "What is the brightest H7 bulb?"

Right now we are going to have to go with LED Bulbs as being the brightest, but remember not all LED bulbs are the same!

A good quality H7 LED Bulb like our H7 High Powered Canbus Bulbs will be a perfect upgrade, will fit inside the majority of headlights, produces massive amounts of light and also a good beam pattern.
